Code of Conduct for Students

The Code of Conduct aims to foster discipline, academic integrity, mutual respect, and a safe learning environment that supports academic excellence and character development.

The Principal invites the cooperation of students and guardians in creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to academic, cultural, and moral development. Students are expected to coordinate with their elected Class Representatives to ensure adherence to institutional discipline.

  • Students must be punctual and regular in attending classes, tutorials, class tests, and examinations. Failure to meet attendance requirements, non-submission of assignments, or unjustified absence from tests/examinations will be treated as a breach of discipline.
  • Students must be seated in their classrooms at the beginning of each period and shall not enter or leave the classroom without the permission of the lecturer.
  • Impersonation during roll call, tests, or examinations is a serious punishable offence.
  • Use of mobile phones during class hours is strictly prohibited and is liable to disciplinary action.
  • Any form of malpractice during examinations, including copying, impersonation, use of unfair means, or exchanging answer sheets, will not be tolerated and will be dealt with severely.
  • Students must carefully follow all notices displayed on the Notice Board, both online and offline. Ignorance of notices will not be accepted as an excuse.
  • In the absence of a lecturer or if a class cannot be conducted, students must maintain discipline and must not leave the classroom without confirming relief instructions from the staff room.
  • Students are expected to treat teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and fellow students with courtesy and respect, both inside and outside the college. Any act that damages the reputation of the institution is prohibited.
  • Students must come to college dressed decently and appropriately, maintaining dignity and decorum.
  • Students must wear and visibly display their identity cards while entering the college and carry them at all times within the campus during college hours.
  • Loitering or standing in verandas and corridors during class hours is strictly prohibited.
  • Each class, when assembled, shall collectively be responsible for the conduct and discipline of its members.
  • Students are strictly forbidden from inviting friends from other institutions or outsiders into the college campus.
  • No posters shall be pasted or fixed with cellotape on college walls. Writing, scribbling, or defacing college property will attract disciplinary action.
  • Smoking, chewing or spitting tobacco products, pan masala, consumption of alcohol, or use of narcotic drugs is strictly prohibited within the college premises. The campus is a declared smoke-free zone.
  • Students must refrain from mishandling, damaging, or tampering with library books, laboratory equipment, or college computer systems.
  • The right to access the Girl’s Common Room is strictly reserved for girl students only.
  • No student shall commit or cause a breach of peace inside or in the surrounding areas of the college campus.
  • Students are prohibited from indulging in games or recreational activities, even in small groups, anywhere in the college premises during lecture hours.
  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary action will be taken against offenders, and it is mandatory for all students and guardians to sign the anti-ragging affidavit as prescribed by the University.
Note: Any act causing damage to the reputation, property, or peace of the institution will attract disciplinary action.

Academic integrity is an essential quality that the Institution must uphold to fulfill its academic objectives and research mission. Any violation of academic integrity constitutes a serious offence and undermines both the reputation of the Institution and the value of the degrees awarded.

Every student of the Institution is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of honesty, originality, and ethical conduct in all academic and research-related activities.

Principles of Academic Integrity
  • Students must properly acknowledge and cite the use of ideas, results, data, or materials derived from others.
  • All contributions to a given piece of academic work must be appropriately recognized.
  • All assignments, projects, reports, and examinations submitted must be original work.
  • Academic activities must be performed without the use of impermissible materials or unethical collaboration.
  • All data and results must be obtained and reported through ethical and legitimate means.
  • Every student has the right to pursue their educational goals without interference or unfair practices.
Violations of Academic Integrity Include (but are not limited to):
  • Plagiarism: The unethical use of ideas, data, materials, figures, text, or codes as one’s own without proper acknowledgment of the original source. This includes:
    • Reproducing text or content fully or partially, whether verbatim or paraphrased, without citation.
    • Reusing one’s own previously published work without proper disclosure or citation.
    • Using figures, graphs, tables, photographs, diagrams, spreadsheets, or computer programs created by others without acknowledgment.
    • Submitting purchased, downloaded, or ghost-written assignments or term papers.
  • Cheating: Any dishonest act during academic evaluation, including:
    • Copying during examinations or assignments.
    • Allowing or facilitating copying by others.
    • Proxy attendance or writing examinations/assignments on behalf of another student.
    • Using unfair means or unethical collaboration during examinations or assessments.
    • Fabricating or falsifying data in assignments, projects, theses, or publications.
    • Creating or citing sources that do not exist.
    • Altering previously submitted work for resubmission without authorization.
    • Signing attendance sheets, exam papers, or documents using another student’s name.
  • Conflict of Interest: Any situation where personal interests conflict with professional or academic responsibilities. This may arise in activities such as teaching, research, publications, committee work, funding, consultancy, or academic decision-making. Students must maintain objectivity, transparency, and ethical judgment at all times.

The Institution has implemented a strict and effective Anti-Ragging Policy in accordance with the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, framed as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within and outside the campus. Any violation will be treated as a serious offence and dealt with firmly.
